1. Eligibility and Membership
Cross Border Life Cover provides specialized financial and repatriation products designed explicitly for foreign nationals residing and working in South Africa . To qualify for membership, you must:
- Be between the ages of 18 and 65 at the time of policy inception.
- Possess a valid passport or foreign identification document from your home country .
- Provide accurate, verifiable details of all dependants and beneficiaries listed on the policy .
2. Waiting Periods
To keep premiums stable and accessible for all members, waiting periods apply from the date of policy activation:
- Accidental Death: Coverage begins immediately upon receipt of your first successful premium payment.
- Natural Death: A standard 6-month waiting period applies before benefits can be paid on natural death claims.
- Suicide: A standard 12-month waiting period applies to claims arising from suicide.
3. Premium Payments & Grace Periods
Premiums are payable monthly via automated debit order on your designated calendar date. If a premium collection fails, a 30-day grace period is allowed. If payment is not secured within this grace period, the policy may be suspended or terminated, and reinstatement terms will apply.
4. Cross-Border Repatriation Logistics
Our cross-border road transportation services are subject to regulatory clearances, customs permits, and consular documentation approvals . While we manage all administrative clearances at border checkpoints, we are not liable for transit delays arising from consular processing backlogs or border closures.
5. Claims and Payouts
To facilitate rapid claim processing within 24 hours, the claimant must submit a certified copy of the death certificate, the BI-1663 notice of death, and the valid passport/foreign ID of both the deceased and the beneficiary .
